I’ve got to agree with John Moltz - Merlin’s constant complaints about what a mess Snow Leopard has proven to his machines has really grown tiresome. We’ve been running the OS on all three of our machines since August 28th with excellent stability and few app problems. I’m sorry he’s having these troubles, but if one’s got a bunch of absolutely mission critical apps (that haven’t announced their compatibility this a new OS) and is in the middle of a time sensitive project (oh, say, writing a book)…
…THEN WAIT TO UPGRADE.
No one has been holding guns to our heads, forcing us to install Apple’s latest and greatest the day it’s unleashed on consumers. Many folks concerned about app incompatibilities simply a month for devs to catch up and fix such bugs.
Sorry to hear about your troubles Merlin, but come on, give it a rest. Roll back to 10.5.8 if necessary, finish your book, and come back to Snow Leopard at 10.6.1.
Living and Working with the World’s Most Advanced Operating System
So far, it’s been easy to provide steady updates. So, that’s good.
Other than mentioning this several places, making jokes about it on Twitter and going on and on about it to the poodle, I haven’t weighed in on Merlin’s troubles with Snow Leopard. But there comes a point when one must be forced to point out that, because I am having no troubles whatsoever, he clearly must be doing something wrong.
Which, as everyone knows, is my side of the street. So shove off, Internet hipster.
When Merlin has had time to settle down and think about the fact that it takes two to fuck up your system (possibly three, five, seven, eight or even one) and has done a clean install on all five of his fucked up machines (say, a full working week, leaving a day for each fucked up machine), I’m sure he’ll realize he was wrong. I don’t know exactly how he was wrong, that’s between him and Jesus. Possibly it was masturbation-related. I’m just throwing it out there as an example. Yes, a personal example, but just one of many. It could have been avarice or sloth or even greed (which is a lot like avarice). But it’s usually masturbation.
And then we will all be able to look back on this unfortunate incident and have a good laugh.
And go back to masturbating.
At least he must admit the box Snow Leopard ships in is nice and small.
